The Only New Year’s Resolution You Need!

The Only New Year’s Resolution You Need!

You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks - Winston Churchill

Another year, another New Year's Resolution.

Today we will contemplate why the New Year’s Resolution is nothing more but a gimmick and what you should focus on instead. Yes, making a list of your goals helps, but at the same time, it is counterproductive.

Why Your New Year’s Resolution Fails You?

How many times have you made that list?

Here is another list of why your list fails..

1. Too many things to focus on
2. You let in the distractions
3. Unnatural to your previous nature
4. Sometimes unrealistic goals
5. Unspecified targets
6. Impatience for results

As a result, at the end of a few weeks you are exhausted.

The One Thing

Gary Keller writes the best way to get extraordinary results is by focusing on that one thing.

Just imagine catching two rabbits at a time. Without exhausting yourself by creating a bunch of things to do. Here is what you should focus on; FOCUS.

How to Focus Using the Conscious Mind

Learning how to focus on a conscious mind can literally change every aspect of your life.

Though, training for such a skill takes some initial effort. By the art of conscious thinking, you can achieve your every goal.

What I am about to do next, will it help my cause? If yes, then go for it, if not then you move on.

You get what you focus on. If you focus on what you don’t want, chances are you are getting what you don’t want.

Therefore, you need to identify and weigh what you want more. Then filter your every act through that system. For example, if you're going to lose 10 Kg, that mouthwatering dessert won’t be quite mouthwatering.

Mindset is everything to all your goals

All your goals are worthless and unachievable if you don’t have the right mindset.

You can achieve anything in the world with the right mindset.

Now that we have made our point on the importance of the right mindset, you can use it to achieve any goal you desire for the next year.

What is the right mindset?

The right mindset is the growth mindset as described by Carol Dweck, author of Mindset: The New Psychology of Success.

Dweck points out two types of mindsets; fixed and growth.

Fixed mindset limits itself and doesn’t believe it can grow. Whereas, the growth mindset knows it can improve in any area of life.

Be Mindful.

Life is a journey, not a destination.

One of the leading causes of failure in life is focusing on the destination when you should be focusing on the journey. Even if and when you reach the destination, you forget to enjoy the journey.

The best way to enjoy the journey is to be mindful. Focusing on the process, not the result.

Stop your old habits and ways, start focusing and start your journey.

Wish You a Happier and More Focused New Year!
