The Paleo diet is as primal as you can get when it comes to deciding what diet to follow and which one will give you the best results. Now when you hear it, “eating like a caveman” doesn’t exactly sound like the most appealing option, but you need to understand that cavemen were a force of nature and easily the most physically fit specimens in all of human history. Why would one not want to be like that?
In this blog, we will take a deep dive into what the paleo diet is, how it can affect your body in a positive way and just because we like you, a diet plan that will pave the way to that amazing body you always wanted.
What is the Paleo Diet?
The simplest way to explain this diet is to break it down to its grassroots, “if cavemen didn’t eat it, neither should you” and as farfetched as that may seem, it is pretty logical if you think about it. The genetic structure has never changed drastically enough over the years, then why is it that so many of us are obese, overweight or dying due to preventable diseases.
Before the days of Netflix and snicker bars, our ancestors were hunters and gatherers so it’s safe to say they were pretty physically fit.
So there are some obvious things that you should eat such as meat, eggs, vegetables, nuts, seeds and other things that the cavemen loved, steering clear from any candy, sweets, processed foods and basically anything that a caveman might not have had access too.
Apart from the fact that you will start to eat healthily and will have a much stronger you will start feeling much more physically fit. There is always one question that is asked before starting any diet, which is, will it help me lose weight? Well, the paleo diet has shown amazing results over months of people that have adopted the paleo diet.
To get all these advantages, it is important to know that you need to actually commit to it and focus on your goal. Do that and there is no way that you can take advantage of all the things that come with the Paleo diet.
What not to eat in a Paleo Diet?
Simple, don’t eat anything a caveman wouldn’t, this means you can’t have any processed foods. This diet is the easiest when it comes to know what and what not to eat. So every time you pick something up and aren’t exactly sure whether this would fit your diet just ask yourself “would this be available to a caveman?”
So as you begin to answer these questions it kind of breaks down a couple of things that you are not allowed to eat such as:
- Grains such as rice, cereal, and pasta
- Any dairy products like milk and cheese
- Candy and cookies (because obviously!)
Now, this is a simplified diet plan and you can improve on it based on your own discretion because this isn’t ironclad.
Now that you are armed with this knowledge you are ready to eat like a caveman and have the same physical fitness as one.
